Lowes Hero Makeover Day

On August 18^th, 2017, employees from Lowes Signal Hill volunteered with URSA for Lowes Hero Project. Lowes volunteers painted, set up new furniture and put together a beautiful patio oasis for URSA clients. We love when the Community chooses to partner with URSA.

URSA’s fourth annual Brain Art Fundraiser was incredible! The clients were thrilled to show off their masterpieces. This year, we were lucky enough to have two-time Grey Cup Champion and Calgary Stampeder Legend, Jon Cornish as our guest speaker. He gave an inspirational speech about brain injuries and shared with us how he was once affected by a concussion. URSA would like to thank the staff, clients, and all of our supporters for helping us make another year a success. Without them, this event would not have been possible!

Another successful trip with the Rehab on the Mountain Group! Most of our URSA clients had gone before and were very much excited to challenge themselves with new tricks and see if they remembered what they had learned last year. Many were surprised how much they did remember and how much was just muscle memory for them. The Rocky Mountain Adaptive Sports Centre gathered a team of volunteers that got to work one on one with our clients. They were able to provide a safe and fun learning environment, which allowed our clients to have a positive and life changing experience. Rehab on the Mountain is only possible through the support of the community partners who have provided funds, adaptive equipment, and volunteers to help the group of survivors. Thank you to The Rocky Mountain Adaptive Sports Centre and Big Horizon for supporting Rehab on the Mountain!

URSA was fortunate to work with Super-Fly Apparel in February. Super-Fly Apparel is creating outerwear that is contemporary and suitable for individuals of all abilities. Super-Fly Apparel was developed to bring awareness to the everyday activities people with disabilities are challenged with.

URSA would like to thank Super Fly Apparel for volunteering their morning and donating the unique clothing to URSA clients. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Super-Fly Apparel.

URSA’s latest fundraising event, Brain Art, was a major success! Thank you to our staff, clients, and supporters for helping us with this fantastic new fundraising experience. We laughed, cried, ate a ton of delicious food, and raised money for URSA programs, including art therapy!

On April 2, 2015, URSA is partnering with the Hudson’s Bay Company at Chinook Mall in Calgary for a special, Canada-wide shopping event called “The Giving Day”. A full day of discounted shopping means that all proceeds of ticket sales (when ticket bought through URSA) go toward the wonderful programs URSA runs.
