URSA strongly believes that individuals of all abilities thrive in a community setting, versus institutional living.
Our residential services are true homes for our individuals promoting safety, growth, learning, and happiness. URSA has many residences throughout the city of Calgary, all of which are homes to the individuals who live there. Our homes are staffed 24/7 and provide personal care, recreation and leisure opportunities, community integration, and a safe and protected living environment.
URSA believes in each individual having opportunities to access and be involved in the community. Programs and activities the residents participate in at home are based on each individual’s physical, mental, social, spiritual, emotional needs and interests. All individuals are encouraged to participate in daily house duties with in the home and in their community.
URSA also offers services for adult respite. The intent of the respite space is to provide out of home respite for medically fragile adults, as well as to provide a seamless transition option for individuals who are moving from utilizing children’s respite into the adult world.
Our residential services are primarily funded by Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) through Alberta Human Services.
